Apple Now Allows In-App Purchases For Free Apps?!

October 17th, 2009 by Alan Vazquez · 2 Comments

Well, let the crapware rain upon the App Store. Apple has approved In-App purchases for free apps!

What the hell?! They just went back on what they said when they announced iPhone OS 3.0! They said “free apps will remain free… You will never be asked to buy anything inside of a free app”.

Now, this is sweet/sour. Us here at Limited Edition iPhone are, of course, official registered/paid developers and this is good news for us. Now, this is terrible news for the user. You will have crapware.

More useless “buy now to unlock the ‘full version’” it’s crap for the users end.

This will backfire on Apple. Trust me.

I’m not sure what App Store you’ve been looking at, but there’s already an abundance of crapware. This decision alone won’t change that. The only thing this does is allow developers to release a single crap app instead of two of them.

Besides, this will only be a prelude to garbage apps if the developers chose to do it that way.

Brandon: Good point. Most free apps were either “lite” or just plain crap.
