Well, here’s a stunning move from AT&T, AT&T has just announced that they will be allowing VoIP applications to run on the iPhone, over their cellular network!
This is a shocker. AT&T has been reluctant to allow any sort of VoIP applications to run on the cellular network, so the apps have only been running on Wi-Fi. Apple has issued a statement over AT&T’s announcement, “We are very happy that AT&T is now supporting VOIP applications,” said Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris. “We will be amending our developer agreements to get VOIP apps on the App Store and in customers’ hands as soon as possible.”
Well, to be honest, I do not believe that this announcement was all AT&T’s idea. AT&T must be under enormous stress to make as many customers, as well as Apple, happy. Apple is killing exclusive contracts left and right, and at this point, Apple doesn’t need AT&T.
They now have enough pull that they can basically kill their contract with AT&T and switch to Verizon on command.
So there you go guys.

What’s voip apps ??
will edge also be supported for voip or only 3G
@Kenny… VoIP is voice over Internet protocol… Meaning applications that use the Internet to transmit voice will be able to work on the edge n 3G network not only wifi… Stuff like “skype”…
But I didn’t need this to happen I was already able to do this with the 3G unrestrictor on cydia
When do they start enabling it? I still get messages like Apple does not allow voip on 3G when attempting to make calls.
yeah.. I don’t think they started yet
