Here we go guys. I have been following this story for a few weeks now. One of my very confidential sources has confirmed to me (along with other Apple and Verizon sources) that AT&T’s iPhone exclusivity will end on December 31st of this year!
Why have I waited so long? Well, because I needed more confirmation. It seems as though Apple has no intentions in pursuing a renewal of their exclusivity contract with AT&T!
Now, there are rumblings that the iPhone will be on Verizon, but it is still unclear whether it will still be an exclusivity agreement, or just a deal with Verizon to distribute and use on their network.
Anyways, the real important thing here is that the iPhone 3G S will be the last AT&T only iPhone! (Now, if only Apple would unlock everyone’s iPhone so that existing AT&T customers can ditch them…)

soo maybe at the stroke of midnight all iphones in the use will become unlocked???
Truehybridx: Lol. I doubt it. That’s why I said “now if only…” lol.
Apple should text every iPhone user in the nation their unlock code, or some sort of comunication like that
Truehybridx: lol. Unlock codes?! Lol. Apple uses iTunes to validate an unlock.
So does this mean that future iPhones won’t use gsm technology?
Tyrem: No, they will most likely be both GSM and CDMA. It would be extremly stupid for Apple to drop GSM technology because the vast majority of cellular networks world wide are GSM.
