A Working Jailbreak for the 1.1.3 firmware is here but comes with a RISK! As all upgrades are risky, this one is doubly so. You may have to restore your iPhone using iTunes and start again if it fails. Make sure to backup first!
This jailbreak, like the 1.1.2 jailbreak, comes as an upgrade. This means you need to have a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken iPhone already, before you begin. Unlocked phones appear to remain unlocked and work properly after the update according to scattered reports.
MAC VERSION – Download the 1.1.3 package maker and open it, then run Run_This. Read carefully, press Enter when necessary, and the image will be uploaded to your phone.
Here’s how you do it:
– Start with a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken phone with Installer.app installed.
– Plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
– Download, extract, and run iBrickr Special 1.1.3 jailbreak edition (ibrickr.exe in the archive).
– iBrickr will determine what firmware you are running on your phone and make sure you can run the update.
– iBrickr will then guide you through the process of obtaining and modifying the 1.1.3 firmware (make sure to read everything thoroughly).
– iBrickr will upload the new firmware image to your phone. Note that this only puts the file on your phone and does not modify it at all, yet.
– When iBrickr finishes (should take about 10 minutes), it will tell you to go to Installer and install the “1.1.3 soft upgrade” package. Do that.
– When the installer finishes (this should take another 10-15 minutes), your phone should reboot with a fresh activated 1.1.3 firmware.

lumos // Jan 25, 2008 at 7:42 AM

Limited Edition iPhone // Jan 25, 2008 at 8:52 AM
Lumos can you confirm that you do not have to re-unlock your phone after the 1.1.3 upgrade? You have 1.1.3 fully working with T-Mobile USA?
Jerry // Jan 25, 2008 at 9:05 AM
i got this work with tmobile usa. the only thing is that tzone is not working anymore even with sw from installer. any ideas
Joe Ten // Jan 25, 2008 at 10:10 AM
what is the address for community source?
Jon Davis // Jan 25, 2008 at 12:03 PM
@Joe Ten: The installer source that contains the 1.1.3 soft upgrade is STE:
psmxy.org/iphone-apps/
I’m on Tmobile US and upgraded to 1.1.3 from 1.1.1 and the jailbreak went fine and the phone remained unlocked but there were a bunch of little problems (EDGE settings need fixing, lot of Installer apps aren’t compatible yet, etc).
Also here’s another big warning: if you upgrade to 1.1.3 and then sync with iTunes at any point, you can no longer restore your data to anything lower than firmware 1.1.3 (if you downgrade back to 1.1.1 as I have, iTunes will tell you that the restore isn’t compatible with the version of iPhone).

Anyone tried this with a T-mobile UK sim? is the iphone still unlocked?
Cheers
Joe Ten // Jan 25, 2008 at 12:52 PM
Thanks Jon Davis,
I was able to get the upgrade to work.
I am live in canada and use Fido/Rogers and my service is still working fine after the upgrade.
How ever I did lose all of my installed program icons.
Lester // Jan 25, 2008 at 1:31 PM
I installed the upgrade 1.1.3 from ibrickr and everything went great but the all of my icons dissappeared and i tried to uninstall the 3rd party apps and re-install them to get the icons back which most of them did but my Summerboard icon (SMB) won’t come back and it won’t uninstall also i tried to reinstall Customize but it says after i download it that it is only for 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 does anyone know how to get the SMB icon back on my screen so i can modify my themes and icon? Also is Customize coming out with a new version to work with 1.1.3. Help !
Joe Ten // Jan 25, 2008 at 1:42 PM
AS PER LESTER
I also had the same problem!
plus category 1.53 doesn’t work and wont install.
swissdude // Jan 25, 2008 at 4:07 PM
everything seeems to be working great except the gps feature in maps where it should display my current location doenst work and I live in canada so i suppose it should work … Anybody else have this problem?
Scuzz // Jan 25, 2008 at 4:21 PM
I did this on my unlocked jailbroken 1.1.2 iphone with a t-mobile UK sim. My first attempt didn’t work as ibrikr created a 0k bin file rather than the 300mb one to upload to the phone. This was due to problems with vista so i had to run the program in compaibility mode for xp, and run as an admin. Make sure auto-lock is set to never on iphone as well.
The program then worked perfectly and after following the steps my phone booted into a unlocked jailbroken 1.1.3. The only problem is the locate feature in gmaps not working, and i had to reinstall all my apps in installer. My texts, mail settings, notes, music and some app settings all remained. I had to reenter my edge and wifi settings.
lumos // Jan 25, 2008 at 6:37 PM
I am 1 day into the updae and I have had no problems at all. Works like a charm!!!!
truehybridx // Jan 25, 2008 at 10:41 PM

lumos // Jan 25, 2008 at 10:51 PM
I am loving it. It has a couple of bugs but nothing that makes it not worth the update
jiggykilla // Jan 26, 2008 at 12:28 AM
Thanks Nate! it works perfectly for me, would be nice to have Customize and summerboard working, i guess an update is imminent!

I have unlocked Iphone with v1.1.1.this phone was unlocked in U.S but now using it in U.K on Orange network. have been using without problems for 4 months.now something happend yesterday and the iphone wont swith on.just apple symbol appears thats all .when i connect to windows computer it will ask me to restore…
i know if i restore to either v1.1.1 or v1.1.3 it will lock my phone…i may be wrong here??
can some one help me what are the options i have to get it back working iphone..?
any help is very much appriciated.
truehybridx // Jan 26, 2008 at 10:46 AM
upgrading this way to 1.1.3 or downgrading from it will NOT relock your phone.. the baseband is untouched and the original unlock will remain…..unless you upgrade to a legit 1.1.3
Mirsep // Jan 26, 2008 at 11:26 AM
Cheers Lumos and truehybridx, it took me ages to unlock my iphone at 1.1.2 and am sketchy about 1.1.3 but you guys have made it pretty clear its good to go!
Just a question though:
-do we need to uninstall ANY apps on a jailbroken/unlocked phone before starting the process? Or can we just do everything without priming the iphone before hand?
martin // Jan 26, 2008 at 11:44 AM
can some one anser my question please………..thanks
Mirsep // Jan 26, 2008 at 11:56 AM
Martin, sounds like your phone is in restore mode.
You’ll have to reinstall 1.1.1, jailbreak and then sim-unlock it using anySIM.
This process will take about 45mins usually.
You can find a guide here:
https://limitededitioniphone.com/guide-jailbreakactivateunlock-virgin-iphones-v111-windows/
martin // Jan 26, 2008 at 3:24 PM
