iPhone3,1 Confirmed! It’s In The Wild.

November 29th, 2009 by Alan Vazquez · 13 Comments

Well well, what do we have here? It seems as though the iPhone 4G (or iPhone3,1) has been spotted in the wild! Guess where? That’s right! San Francisco.

Now, the iPhone3,1 model number was discovered in the wild by a Bay Area developer in his application’s usage logs. Also remeber how I also discovered iPhone3,1 (and iPod4,1, iPr0d0,1, and iPr0d1,1, etc.) during the iPhone OS 3.0 beta periods (and even recently, they have stayed in the boot sequences for the hardware and other things as well) So this isn’t new, but this is the first time iPhone3,1 has showed it’s head in the wild.

Now, according to Apple’s model number usage, a 1,0 update to the previous model number means that a major upgrade has happened. An example, the iPhone 1st generation’s model number was 1,0 because it was the 1st generation. Now, the iPhone 3G had a model number of 1,2, so it was iPhone1,2 because it was not a significant upgrade.

Finally, the iPhone 3G S’ model number was iPhone2,1 signifying that a major update had taken place. This also signified that a new processor had been used.

So we can expect the next iPhone to be a major update. I predict a new, faster processor, faster GPU, same RAM, both GSM and CDMA support, slightly better camera, HD video support, FM Radio, and iPhone OS 4.0 who’s features I’m not sure of.

So there you go guys, if you are waiting for an iPhone, I would buy an iPhone 3G S now and buy the iPhone 4G (or whatever) in July.

Another small note, the iPhone2,1 (iPhone 3G S) was discovered in logs such as this in October of 2008. That was about 8 months before it was released! So we can definitely expect the iPhone 4G this summer, and an iPhone OS 4.0 announcement in early March.

Now, for the Apple tablet, who knows. It may be true, it might not be true. Apple could easily change it’s model number to be that of a regular iMac to evade detection, remember, this iTab (or whatever) is supposed to be a game changer, and as we all know, game changers usually are kept a secret until their launch. (Or until it’s close to launch).

umm Cheque :P look at the “There’s a map for that” and AT&T/Apple’s “There’s an app for that” ads

it kinda looks like verizon was hitting both AT&T and Apple

Well if you think about it Verizon had a ad that went specifically against AT&T’s service rather than the iPhone. It was called verizon misfit toys. It said the iPhone was a good phone but had horrible service from AT&T. AT&T tried to sue Verizon but they failed. Apple on the other hand never tried to sue verizon for their commercials.

Chino: Lol, tell me about it. I’m causing a lot of anti-Droid activity. I don’t see how it’s an “iPhone killer” or even close. It has disguisting looking software, no eye candy, the phone looks like a pile of plastic with an on button, and it in no way beats/will beat the iPhone. People want elegant looking products with major functionality and a good investment, not a cheap piece of garbage sucj as the Droid.

“In a world of doesn’t, Droid does”? Really? Lol. Worst Ad campaign ever. When I see their commercials, and it’s like, can your phone search, or surf the web, or whatever, I’m like “yes…yes…yes…and yes… Nice try”
