They are not native/real applications, they are websites that look like apps. So if you use your iPhone 3G, you can jailbreak it to get more applications, now these apps are not sanctioned by Apple, but they are very useful and fun. When you jailbreak firmware 2.0.x you get 2 more application installers, one is called Cydia and the other is called Installer.
