(Need an AT&T sim, unactivated is okay) Basically you have to set up the iPhone as a new one, so backup whatever you want to keep. Now restore. When the "Connect to iTunes" message pops up, insert an AT&T sim into the phone. The phone will now give notify you that it is activating and that it'll take a while. Just keep the AT&T sim inside. Then go through the usual redsn0w jailbreak and ultrasn0w unlock (Keep the AT&T sim inside). Turn off 3g (if using T-Mobile). Now swap your activated third party SIM card into the iPhone and reboot. You should see "iPhone is now activated" when it restarts. I was dejected when push didn't work on my hacktivated phone, but this method worked for me.
