Well guys, here’s a developing story for you guys. It seems as though more and more “hackers” (a bunch of degenerates who give us developers and good hackers a bad name) are creating malware for the iPhone. Now, I am absolutely furious at these jackasses.
I mean, not only are they scaring people and stealing their money, but their also scaring off jailbroken iPhone users and unjailbroken iPhone users who are frustrated with Apple’s crap rules. This latest “Duh Worm” is, fortunately, only in the Netherlands. The Duh Worm switches out the website your going to and goes to a hackers website and they will steal your credentials (if you are an ING customer).
Now, this is not in the US, but you shouldn’t feel scared even if your in the Netherlands. All you have to do is not be an idiot. Now, I love having my battery last through the day, and I never have anything on that I don’t need. I don’t have Winterboard, I don’t leave a billion mobilesubstrate applications on all the time, I don’t have Mail, Safari, or the iPod applications on, Push Notifications, Push EMail, nothing. I never have anything on when I don’t need them, and most of all, I NEVER have SSH or Location Serivices on when I don’t need them!
So, if you don’t want to mess with changing your SSH password, don’t. Just open SBSettings and tap on SSH and Location Services to turn them off. That’s all you need to do. Nothing else. Just don’t be an idiot and leave them on, because not only will that kill your battery, but now with all of these degenerates roaming around, it’s a security risk.
I highly recommend jailbreaking, even if you don’t want an unlock. Jailbreak, break free from Apple’s stupid rules and over regulations and use your iPhone like you want to use it. Nothing has ever happened to me, and I’ve had about 10 different iPod touch devices, and now my iPhone 3G. I’ve been jailbreaking not only my device, but many many other devices since the very beginning in 2007 and I have never encountered any issues with jailbreaking.
Now, I have messed up my iPod touch or iPhones before, but it was because I was being stupid and trying all sorts of unproven hacks (and creating some of my own) but no permanent damage, ever. Just a simple restore will fix any and all issues. So please, I strongly encourage you all to jailbreak! Try out the wonderful applications and extra services/features that Apple rejected because they went above and beyond to create something that Apple had not thought of.
I’m going to end on this note. I have told countless people who have told me that hackers are bad and horrible. Hackers are not all bad people. I’m a hacker and developer and have NEVER EVER written a malicious line of code or ever attempted to harm anyone’s personal property. Hackers are defined as people who have an insane amount of knowledge of computers (or in this case, the iPhone), not power hungry, private property destroying, degenerates.
Without hackers, software and hardware wouldn’t advance. There would be no progress if we didn’t push the limits of computers and devices to create ideas and concepts that no one has ever thought of. All of the features of iPhone OS 1.1.3 -> iPhone OS 3.1.2 were first thought of (and brought upon) by hackers. People who don’t take no for an answer and really do want to push the companies to incorporate the many innovations that we think of into a format where everyone has access to them by default.
Even the whole App Store concept. Applications wouldn’t have been a killer feature if we had never jailbroken the iPhone and iPod touch and written the first iPhone application (even with no SDK whatsoever). So there you go everyone. Hackers aren’t bad, there’s always degenerates wherever you go, and in what ever market you are in.
So don’t be afraid to jailbreak. It’s worth it.

u r absolutly right!
Yeah Alan is totally right and eff those bastards who make malware for the iPhone
Nice article!
Is there any way to stop my ssh coming on when I turn on my iPod or even respring it.. It a pain. It’s not coz I worried about security coz I changed the password. It’s more of a charge concern.
Thanx.
Dan
Danny: Yes, uninstall it, lol. No other way.
Everyone: Thanks!
Just spoke my mind. Tell people about this article!
i love u man!! lol u always leavr when wr play on eliminate ign desperado23 eheheheheh
Hi I’m new to jailbreaking, I have recently jailbroke my iPhone 3gs, I’m just wondering where you find the sbsettings? O have been looking around the phone and can’t find it, is it a app that o have to download? Any help would be great thanks
just open Cydia and you can find it on te first page at the “Featured Packages” seccions or do a search on Cydia for SBSettings
hope you find it!
Jamie: Just search for SBSettings in Cydia’s search function. You won’t see an icon. You’re going to run your finger accross the status bar (where it says iPhone, battery, time, etc.) and it’s show up.
Esmandau: Thanks for helpin!
Thanks guys, got sbsettings and have turned off ssh thanks again
Jamie: Yeah, no problem. Also, download LEI Mobile if you haven’t already. It’s a great app, and you can check us (any our many services) out any time, anywhere. It’s free on Cydia.
Will do thanks again
Jamie: Yep. No prob. If you have any questions or issues, e-mail me, just tap on “Extras” in LEI Mobile, then tap “Alan” and it’ll bring up a compose window so you can e-mail me (or Mike & Truehybridx) any time you have an issue or a question.
I am constantly on my iPhone, so I reply the fastest, usually within minutes.
umm how many firmwares did we the iphone community have to deal with before they bothered with the appstore?? come on people start at the first ever 1.0 and go up til u reach appstore frameworks
Truehybridx: Let me see, from memory (including iPod touch firmware) 1.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, 1.1.4, 1.1.5, 1.2, 2.0 beta 2-9, 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1, 3.0 beta 1-6, 3.0, 3.0.1, 3.0.2, 3.1, 3.1.1, 3.1.2! How’d I do?i think I’m pretty much right. I’m a beast. I’ve been doin this since 2007. Since before the iPhone launched, all the drama, all the excitement, turmoil, everything.
Is it possible to create a detailed guide ‘How to Jailbreak your iPhone’… I know there are guides all over the web, but I trust you guys..
Stupid freaking malware
@alan ok you named off alllll the firmware revisions lol… i meant all revisions UP TO the launch of the appstore
which is more than half of the ones you listed anyways
RT: Of course. It dawned on me that the last “detailed” jailbreaking guide we did was for iPhone OS (or Aspen OS) 1.1.1, lol. Truehybridx has written up a tutorial for all of you Windows users out there.
I will post it soon.
I will type up one for Mac OS X users, I’ll type mine up on The Pwnage Tool and how to make cuatom firmware and restore to it, and all of that fun stuff. So stay tuned. It will be up within 48 hours. Depending on when I have time.
