Looky What I Found…

June 24th, 2009 · 9 Comments · Apple, iPhone

Wow guys, Apple is really getting sloppy with their firmware. I found a reference to voice control on my iPhone 3G! Now you can find this as well. I am not sure you can find it on the iPhone 2G.

I just found this bug in the passcode lock. I never use this or else I would have found it already. Look at the image. So we can assume one of two things. Apple screwed up (most possible) or Apple will have voice control on the iPhone 3G later as a paid update. I would most likely get that update because I was looking forward to voice control since I had the 3.0 betas.

So there you go guys. Just another prime example at how Apple messes up.

i don’t know if it matters, but i have an unlocked iPhone 3G with T-Mobile USA and i don’t see that option on my iPhone. i guess it’s for AT&T legal customers only.

they will hack it somehow lol

NightWolf & ttruehybridx: Sorry guys, it seems I jumped the gun on this one. My appologies. Since I have been hacking away at my iPhone 3G, I have been trying to bring Voice Control, Accessibility, and some other things no one has reported on yet, as far as I know. And it seems that I enabled this due to my tinkering in the OS. Sorry all, I forgot I had done some things to the OS that would make this appear.

I’ll report soon on some of my findings soon, once I can study these hidden references and some other stuff I’ve found some more. Stay tuned…

lol when you say hacking away can i barrow the axe youre using 😛

ok we’ll sit tight and wait for the guys who know what theyre doing (sorta) to work it all out 😛

Thanks for letting us know how you were able to reveal a hidden feature, voice control, on the iPhone 3G. Keep the good work.

truehybridx: lol, trust me, I’ve heard that joke before. Hey, have faith, lol. We know what we’re doing. (kinda), lol. (Nevermind) 🙂

Nightwolf: Well, its a work in progress. I still need a complete iPhone 3G S firmware dump (for all of you immature people, like me, lol, you may laugh) to take out the remaining bundles to get Voice Control to work. So far, I have not gotten it to work. Once the Dev Team releases a jailbreak, I’ll ask Mike for the necessary files on one of his many 3G S models.

    any luck?

  • Alan Vazquez

Luck as in progress, yes. I’ll release some things soon. (not ways of activating, but a couple strange references) I’ll wait until you all have 3.1, to see if they have built on them or if they are gone.

So far, in 3.1, its mostly just bug fixes. Until i get a jailbreak, I can’t do much.

I can’t enable jibber until I have a jailbroken iPhone 3G S filesystem. (or pwned 3G S firmware for better results)

how bout now since the ra1n has fallen 😛
