Hey everyone. Well, as I had said earlier, I was attempting to enable “Jibbler” (voice-control), Accessibility, and “Victoria” (Nike+) and that I had found some “references” to some strange things that I had found. Well, I think its about time that I update everyone on my progress.

Well, before I start, I would like to thank MuscleNerd and GeoHot for the killer iPhone 3G S ramdisk key, and a thank you to Mike (Limited Edition iPhone) for decrypting the 3G S firmware (due to me being on a PC, I could not have decrypted it without him and his Mac).

Alright, well, status report on “Victoria” (Nike+ support), to tell you the truth, I haven’t really been working on this as extensively or rigorously as “Jibbler” or Accessibility. I have the files to attempt to enable “Victoria”, but I won’t get to this until I resolve the other issues first.

Next up, Accessibility. Well, thanks to the iPhone 3G S OS dump, I have the necessary frameworks and bundles on the 3G successfully. The problem is, I can’t get it to work! The Accessibility pane in the Preferences application (Settings) shows up, but when you try to get into it, it just shows a blank settings panel. I have the bundles in place, but no effect whatsoever. I am still trying to get this to work, but it will take some time.

Next, is “Jibbler”. Now “Jibbler” is my main focus, I have added (what I believe to be) most of the files necessary to use it, frameworks, bundles, and SpringBoard plugins, but nothing! I looked inside of a launch daemon file for voiced, and it said I needed a com.apple.enabled.voiced.plist from the preferences folder inside of var/mobile/library. It seems that I still need files from a real (jailbroken) iPhone 3G S.

Now, some good news, I have managed to enable one thing (that I didn’t even know the iPhone 3G S actually had enabled from Apple) its a battery indicator. I found this a long time ago (I think bigboss put it into his SbSettings app). I found this in 3.0 beta 2. Its called the gas-gauge-battery, just add this to your M68AP.plist and set it to true. Then respring. Now go to Settings->General->Usage and turn “Battery Percentage” on.

I also found something that increases the overall performance of your camera. Now, this may or may not work for you, but I actually saw some improvement (I’m pretty sure its not my imagination). Add auto-focus-camera to your N82AP.plist in System/library/CoreServices/SprongBoard.app and then set it to true. Now respring, and check out your camera. It won’t give you the little blue box, but I found it to increase the cameras performance, by slightly reducing blur when you move the camera around.

Now to some references I found. Well, I can confirm an iPod touch 3rd generation. I found boot sequences and other nice little hardware scripts in the 3.0 software. They reference an iPod 3,1 model. I can also say that the next iPod touch will have a camera. Now, I can’t say it will be a regular old iPhone 3G or EDGE camera or an iPhone 3G S camera, but if I were Apple, I would add a 3 mega-pixel auto-focus camera like on the 3G S that would also be video capable.

To close this update, I want to say that I found a “sensitive-ui” reference in the OS. I have not found anything that would need this capability, but this may reference a new touchscreen. Apple filed for a patent on where you could feel what you were touching by the touchscreen moving (and having bumps where the application had controls).

So thats it for now. Not much to report, but I am working on it as diligently as I can. If you have an iPhone 3G S and would like to help me (and all other iPhone owners), restore the firmware to 3.0, and jailbreak. Install OpenSSH, and using an SSH client, go to the / directory (root) and make a folder in your desktop, and name it 3G S firmware.

Then, hit “select all” in the root directory, and drag everything to the folder, when its done, zip up the folder (to reduce size), and upload it somewhere, I really need your firmware in order to make voice-control (and everything else I talked about) available to us non 3G S users.

Don’t worry, I’m not interested in your personal data, so don’t sync your 3G S at all when transferring the filesystem to the folder. (plus it reduces the .zip file’s size if it doesn’t have your media or data on it).

Alright everyone, it’s been a while since we’ve posted anything and I think its time to let you all get some of the little tid bits that come are way that haven’t made the cut to be on the site.

So here we go!

The first has been 100% confirmed, this is that AT&T is doubling the speeds of their 3G network on a massive scale. They are increasing their theoretical max speed of 3.6mb/s to a theoretical 7.2mb/s.

So why is this so important? Well, AT&T has increased their network every time Apple is about to launch a new iPhone. In 2006 – 2007 AT&T increased their EDGE network on a massive scale (remember the original iPhone is EDGE only), then in 2008, AT&T also massively increased their 3G network (to accommodate the iPhone 3G) and now, another massive increase!

We have also received word that the next iPhone will have a new chipset that will support 7.2mb/s on 3G. So I believe that we can pretty much confirm that rumor. The next iPhone will be way faster than the iPhone 3G, (data speed wise).

The next little tid bit is a new camera for the iPhone. Apple has placed orders for tons of 3.2 mega pixel cameras. Everyone with an iPhone will know that the camera is one of the weakest points of the iPhone. I can pretty much confirm this as well.

Next up, a MacBook Tablet?! Yes ladies and gentlemen. Apple has placed orders for 10 inch touchscreens from Wintec. Now Wintec is the company that produces the touchscreens for the iPhone and iPod touch so we may be seeing an iPhone OS enabled tablet soon. Apple has ordered these new screens for the end of the third quarter of this year.

I do not expect an announcement at WWDC of a new tablet, but rather later in the year at a special event.

Next is that China Unicom has confirmed that they will be getting exclusive rights to sell the iPhone. That opens up the market to 2 BILLION more people!!! WOW!

The next is one about (my favorite person) Steve Jobs. Sources are indicating that he is doing better and will most likely be at WWDC 2009 giving the keynote on June 8th.

Sources also indicate that he is also actively leading the new MacTablet project, iPhone 3rd Gen project, and the upcoming Mac OS X Snow Leopard. So I hope to see him there at 9am (pacific time/ 11am central time) on stage.

These next couple are new features in iPhone OS 3.0, first up is video recording. Video recording can pretty much be a confirmed thing. More references have been found in iPhone OS beta 3.

Next is voice recognition, this is another (pretty much) confirmed feature. Tons of references have been found in iPhone OS 3.0 beta 3. All of these, however, refer to “SB”, we all know what that means, voice recognition will be a SpringBoard.app attachment. (Along with Spotlight).

So it seems that Apple is now using SpringBoard as a, well, spring board to propel 3.0 into greatness.

Aright everyone, these are all of the (worth noting) little tid bits for you guys. We will keep you all updated on some pretty cool stuff that we are going to do for you guys in the cumming weeks.

Alright guys, first of all, let me tell you guys something before I tell you my findings. Apple uses codes to reference specific iPhone and iPod touch models. as you may recall, they also use numbers such as iPhone1,1 (iPhone Classic), iPhone1,2 (iPhone 3G, iPod1,1 (iPod touch 1st generation), and iPod2,1 (iPod touch 2G).

Apple also uses code such as the following:

iPhone First Gen – 0×1290
iPod touch 1G – 0×1291
iPhone 3G – 0×1292
iPod touch 2G – 0×1293

The code above can be found in the ramdisk of firmware 2.1.1 through 2.2.1. Now the code above is very expected. 4 devices, 4 reference codes, right? Well, iPhone OS 3.0 may have just spilled the beans.

In my copy of firmware 3.0 beta, (iPod2,1_3.0_7A238j_Restore.ipsw), you can find some very different code within the ramdisk, here it is:

iPhone First Gen – 0×1290
iPod touch 1G – 0×1291
iPhone 3G – 0×1292
iPod touch 2G – 0×1293
iPhone2,1 – 0×1294
iProd0,1 – 0×1295
iPod2,2 – 0×1296
iPhone3,1 – 0×1297
iFPGA – 0×1298
iPod3,1 – 0×1299

Now, this is an amazing discovery! We have the expected suspects, iPhone2,1 (new iPhone probably going to be announced very soon), and iPod3,1 (new iPod touch probably going to be announced this fall). So what the hell is the rest of this? Well, if you notice, there are 2 new iPhone references, iPhone2,1 and iPhone3,1! What the hell?! Possibly Apple may announce 2 new iPhones for this summer.

Now, notice, there are also 2 new iPod touch models as well. IPod2,2 and iPod3,1! This may (again) point to 2 new iPod touch models for this fall. This is amazing!

So those are the typical culprits… but there is one more thing. What in the world are the other 2 model numbers?! These are not even known at all! IProd0,1 could point to a new device that is in very early beta stages. I say this due to the 0 in it’s name. So what about iFPGA? What does this point to? Could this be a new MacBook + iPhone OS device? An iPhone OS enabled MacBook Tablet? Or, could it be something completely different?

We will have to wait and see. Now, I am not sure if anyone else has found this yet, but as far as I know, you saw it here first! So now that us here at Limited Edition iPhone have revealed this, I hope we can get some answers quickly, and let’s see what Apple will bring us this year! (and we wish Steve Jobs a speedy recovery, we hope you come back Steve!)
