iAppCat – Search Installer Sources Or Create Your own

February 21st, 2008 · 1 Comment · Apple, iPhone

While the official iPhone SDK (Software Development Kit) is sill not available, the number of native applications increases every day. Almost all of them can be reached through the Installer.app.

Recently a site gathering all the available Installer sources was launched – http://iappcat.com .
At first glance it is a directory of multiple repositories and their contents – applications, books, SpringBoard themes etc. There are more than 130 working sources with hundreds of installable items. The search feature makes this collection even more useful.

Also iAppCat gives the ability to check the arbitrary source URL for its availability, validity and contents. After checking the URL can be submitted for addition into the catalog.

The most interesting feature of the iPhone Installer.app users is the ability to create a personalized repository.
After a short registration procedure You can select only packages You need from the whole iAppCat directory. Having them in Your own single Installer source You’ll save traffic and significantly speed up refreshes.
