iPhone 3G Has Hidden Data Matrix Code

September 19th, 2008 · No Comments · Apple, Apple Store, iPhone, Video

According to a poster at the Australian Whirlpool forums that Engadget picked up, a hidden matrix code is visible on the left side of the 3G iPhone. That’s pretty weird, right? The poster discovered this weird matrix code when he was filming the back of this iPhone 3G with the night shot function on his camera. People are speculating as to what this code may contain. The most common explanation is that the data matrix code holds information such as IMEI and serial numbers, as you might know, IMEI is on the battery on most phones, but since the iPhone has a non-removable battery, this could explain why this is there. Nobody knows 100% as to what this code holds, but if anyone has any information as to what exactly this code holds, please don’t hesitate to tell us immediately, this could help solve the mystery or it could open up more questions. So just leave us a comment and tell us what you think or what you know it says.
