To get the dock auto reflection you just need to add whats in RED to: /var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist
<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC “-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN” “http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd”><plist version=”1.0″>
<dict>
<key>SBUseNewDock</key>
<integer>1</integer>
<key>AlarmList</key><array>
First follow the WinSCP guide so you can download the file from your iPhone Next you need to convert the file to be able to edit it. Use this link http://140.124.181.188/%7Ekhchung/cgi-bin/plutil.cgi Edit it in notepad and add whats in RED above. Save the file and upload it back to your iPhone. This is tested working on 1.1.2.
Here’s a couple of screenshots:

Any instructions for Mac users? I managed to get the file from my iPhone using AFP, but could not convert it using the link you provided. When I tried to convert it, I just got another com.apple.springboard.plist file.
I would like to use this so I can get rid of Summerboard as I only use it for the “Touch†Theme.
Thanks,
e

echo just use a plist editor on the mac. there is no need to convert the file

thanks for the response. I’m a bit of a newb here. Are you talking about editing it in Terminal (somewhere I’ve yet to venture)?

you could also download mobile finder and text edit and edit the file on your phone through mobile finder.

It works in v1.1.1 but in a limited way, i.e. the auto-reflection of the icons is there but the iphone seems to make the shiny “floor” or the dock disappear. tried it a couple of times but the same result.

Does this work with 1.1.3 iPod Touch? Because after upgrading to 1.1.3 I have now the ugly iPhone dock with metallic look. The dock reflection was much more smoother and nicer 🙂

Limited Edition iPhone // Mar 13, 2008 at 4:52 PM
nothing on 1.1.3+ I am still searching for a way to get it to work.
chetiboy // Mar 14, 2008 at 2:29 AM
i, too, am waiting for a 1.1.4 tweak to get the reflective dock… hope it doesn’t clash with my summerboard though huhu
Caterpiller seems to be able to do the job, but 1. don’t wanna pay for it, 2. i installed it and crashed my iphone – i had to re-1.1.4 myself!!! 🙁

I Don’t Have This File In My iPhone (1.1.3 OTB) On The Path:
“/var/root/Library/Preferences”
maybe it’s somewhere els ?
Prowler // Mar 27, 2008 at 9:56 AM
OK Guys, I Located This File in a different path: “/System/Library/LaunchDaemons”
I converted it, how ever the file content
Is Totally Different, and refers to “SummerBoard”!
I Have Uploaded The File to “Debian Paste” site and if anyone wants to take a look its here: http://paste.debian.net/51961
And I Guess It menes That If I Got SummerBoard installed, i Can’t Use This Trick.. 😐
