If you were one of the unfortuante people to upgrade your iPhone to the 1.1.1 firmware and found yourself with a bricked iPhone, and used a temporary fix for you that unbricked your iPhone by downgrading your firmware but you lost the ability to make calls.
We can now confirm that those bricked phones can be fully repaired to make calls. If you unlocked your iPhone with iPhoneSimFree you can make your iPhone fully functional again or you have the option to use TurboSim which works as it always did.
If you downgrade back to firmware 1.02 and reactivate using Independence your iPhoneSimFree or TurboSim iPhone will work again.
The iPhone Dev Team is currently working on two things:
• Downgrading the baseband so they can unlock again the iPhones restored to version 1.0.2 from 1.1.1.
• Creating another free unlock that will work for version 1.1.1 of the software. According to them, both may be very near—now testing—and they have put it forward to people with bricked phones to “be patient and hold on until we come with a full solution for 1.1.1 firmware.”
