Gyroxide created a cool Guitar Hero Mod for the game Tap Tap Revolution. Flames actually shoot up when the notes are hit! This is really a cool mod and you can download it here or find it on my Installer Source under games. The directions to install it are included in the zip file. Make sure to check out the video below!

After installing this on my 1.1.3 iphone, it stopped working. When I turn my phone on, it won’t come past the Apple logo and it vibrates every 10 seconds or so (!). Is there any way to manually delete the installed guitar hero files?
sax // Feb 17, 2008 at 7:11 PM

Tom // Feb 17, 2008 at 7:16 PM
Got mine to work again, just download iPhoneBrowse and and manually delete the installed files in “Application” and “var/root/Media/”
Eduardo // Feb 18, 2008 at 10:30 AM
Hi.. I have problems too..
But I can’t connect to my iPhone via iPhoneBrowser because I renamed the folders..
How do I connect to my iphone to delete files?
Fragznet // Feb 18, 2008 at 12:07 PM
had the same problem, pretty freaky!
To fix it you can also use an SSH client, provided your phone is SSH enabled and connected to a Wifi source. Then like Tom said, you just delete TTR.app folder in Applications, usually located in /var/root/media (and then reboot the phone).
The readme file should have a mention that says DO NOT INSTALL ON 1.1.3 FW
Anybody got it working on 1.1.2?

This hack is a Piece of Shiit and screwd my pod.

OK TO EVERYONE FREAKING OUT OVER THIS, here you go.
If your springboard has crashed after downloading this mod:
1. DONT REBOOT, if you have already this might not work for you (still might thought).
2. Plug your iphone/touch into your computer and use any SSH software to gain access to your device (if you did not set up BSD and OpenSSH on your device you’ll need to restore back to 1.1.1 and start this proccess after install BSD and SSH.
3. Copy the TTR.app folder from “var/root/Media/Applications/” to you computer then delete the one on your device.
4.manually change the permisions of ALL of the files in the Copy of TTR.app folder to 0777 .
5. Save the Copy back on your device in “var/root/Media/Applications/” as TTR.app like so “var/root/Media/Applications/TTR.app”.
and poof it should work.
This method has worked for me a number of times now, so let me know if anyone is having anymore problems.
Rodger Pugh // Feb 19, 2008 at 4:24 AM
I’m working on a source for some mods, apps, themes.
Will post as soon as its working.
Rodger Pugh // Feb 19, 2008 at 5:26 AM
Go here for the patched version . http://podmods.hopto.org/TTR.zip
Change the permisions of ALL of the files in the TTR.app folder to 0777
Make three folders on your device.
1.”TTR”
/private/var/mobile/Media/TTR/
2.”Music”
/private/var/mobile/Media/TTR/Music/
3.”Tapps”
/private/var/mobile/Media/TTR/Tapps/
If it doesn’t work after that you did it wrong.

I can`t get this work on my iPhone (Firmware 1.1.4). I got Tap Tap Revolusion installed. When I try to install Guitar Hero 3 Mod. I get this error message: “Main script execution failed!”. Anyone who can help me?
Lyle, RN // Mar 2, 2008 at 11:02 AM
This mod messed-up my iPhone running the 1.1.4 FW. It should have a warning that it will not work with 1.1.3 and 1.1.4
I was able to access my phone via WinSCP and OpenSSH and I delete the TTR folder at:
var/root/Media/Applications/
var/root/Media/
Now, my iPhone is working again. Good thing I had OpenSSH on my iPhone otherwise, I might have been forced to do a full restore.
Limited Edition iPhone // Mar 2, 2008 at 12:48 PM
I will hopefully be creating a 1.1.3+ compatible version tonight!

Tyler // Mar 16, 2008 at 7:47 PM
I have figured out an easy way to get guitar hero mod onto your iphone for firmware 1.1.3 and 1.1.4
first, you need to download mobile finder from installer.
next, download the guitar hero file onto your computer at either
Windows :
http://iphone2.googlecode.com/files/GHTTRMOD.zip
Mac:
http://www.box.net/shared/ajc3z6o23z
unzip and add the folder to your desktop.
Now, download iphonebrowser (google it) or any other program that allows you to access files on your iphone like winscp.
Now, drag the entire folder into the program and it should be on your iphone.
next, open finder on your iphone. *first things first* go to settings, make sure application launch is turned off, and system file access is turned on*
find the folder that you placed onto your iphone.
highlight it and click move
find TTR.app in /applications
double tap it to open the folder
click paste and the folder should now be in the /applications/TTR.app folder
delete ALL of the files except ttr, uploadfile, and info.plist
so most of the files you should be deleting are .png files
next, open the folder and move all of the files out of the folder and into /applications/ttr.app
you should have all of the .png files that were there, but now with guitar hero pictures.
once you are finished that you should return to springboard or summerboard and restart your iphone
open ttr, which now shoud have the guitar hero icon and it should work.
dont rename ttr to guitar hero bc it will cause your screen to go black after you enter your username, idk its a bit buggy
IM me at Ty Schroeder 15 if you have any questions or comments and ill try to help
im kind of new at this myself but i figured it out on my own after a few days of trial and error
Erik // Mar 19, 2008 at 2:42 PM
I´m only getting a black screen once i start the song and i never se the GH3 background (runing 1.1.4). Any ideas? The song plays and it shows that i´m missing the notes.
Tyler // Mar 19, 2008 at 10:15 PM
Erik, did you rename TTR to guitar hero ? Try renaming it back thats what worked for me. just keep it TTR
Alex // Mar 23, 2008 at 12:18 AM

my iphone is stuck in the apple logo and it has a spinning wheel all the time.i can`t acces it with winscp, what can i do???
tom // Mar 29, 2008 at 5:34 PM
i have the same problem that Tom and sax have, i´ve tried the iphone browser and winscp and nothing works, do ihave to restore my phone?? will i need ziphone for that??
please help!!
sax // Mar 31, 2008 at 11:58 AM
You need FTP access to delete the archives. But if you don’t have SSH or it’s turned off, then I’m afraid you’ll have to use ziphone and a 1.1.3 copy of the firmware to restore, activate, unlock & jailbreak your iphone. (takes you 5-6 min)
That’s what I did; then i used iTunes to restore my music, photos and contacts.
Also I had to reinstall my apps from installer.
Alan Vazquez // Mar 31, 2008 at 9:27 PM
“sax” Winscp is an FTP client. They will have to force restore back into 1.1.4. What I do is, I take the desired skin, in this case Guitar Hero, then I just put them in manually. Just take the files and then replace the ones in the TTR.app folder.
