iPhone DFU Mode

If you are getting error (1) or error (6) while downgrading the firmware, you need to put your iPhone in DFU mode before you can restore or downgrade the firmware.

Step 1. Turn off your iPhone.

Step 2. Hold down the power and home button.

Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the home button down.

Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that its in restore mode.

Alternative Method:

Step 1. Connect iphone to USB then listen to the sound when it connect and disconnect.

Step 2. Hold the home and power buttons until hear the disconnect sound then release power button.

Step 3. Wait until you hear another sound then release home button.

Alternate Method:  Going Into DFU Mode Without Button Pushing: (on windows) Easier than timing the buttons just right!

1.) First download the required archive http://www.sendspace.com/file/93fx93

2.) Extract the archive to the root of your hard drive, should be C:/DFU/

3.) Connect your iPhone and ignore iTunes

4.) Goto Start – run

5.) Next type in “c:/dfu/dfu iBSS.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu”

6.) Wait for iPhone to show a “white” screen

7.) Now you may proceed to downgrade!

**also these files are found in ibrickr’s directory except for the .dfu file**

I got this error many many many times when i tried to upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1.2 on my second phone. I tried using a different computer that had never had itunes installed on it, muliple usb ports, nothing worked

in the end i chose for itunes to restore the 3.0 firmware rather than the 3.1.2 one and it worked first try.

I just wanted to let other people know that they should try to restore to the firmware they were on when it entered this ‘crash’ loop, rather than the firmware they were trying to upgrade to.

Donhelio try redownloading the firmware. Restart your computer and phone and plug it into a new USB port and try again

Arm they will be able to tell that it’s jailbroken if they are able to get it to restart. Try using the wall charger. The car adapter may not have been iPhone compatible and drained your battery.

What if your power button is stuck and your iPhone cannot be recognized by iTunes? Mine has been in an infinite loop and I cant DFU since that button is shitty and the pc wont recognize it.

Then Henry you need to call Apple and get the phone replaced and if you are not willing to pay the OOW replacement cost if you are out of warranty then get a new phone. Quit being cheap.

Why not keep your snobbish, useless answer to yourself or just refrain from being a dick?

I was actually able to simply replace the button ($3.00 for a new button).

That is far better than $300 for a new one.

        Twat.
