Review: Fake Calls (Version 1.1)

November 30th, 2008 · No Comments · iPhone

Hey guys, it’s me again. I have been searching the App Store and I have found a couple of applications that I found were great and (at the time) cheap! One of those is Fake Calls from MagicTap.

Now why is this application important enough for me that I’m reviewing it? Well, first of all, it was the top application for some time, and continued to be in the top 25 and 50 for weeks after that.

So, the basic thing that this application does, is it gets you out of doing stuff. Please note that, most likely, only iPhone users could get away with that, mabe the 2nd Gen iPod touch… Anyways, if you are like me, I use it as a novelty item. I use it to make some of my dumber friends think that my new touch is an iPhone.

Fake Calls is very cool, especially with the very long awaited release of version 1.1. Now the reason that it took so long was on Apple’s behalf. I am in contact with the developer of this application (and am working with him to address some bugs) and he had submitted 1.1, and it took Apple nearly a MONTH to approve it! Well, actually guys (this literally just now hit me, I just remembered that he added Proximity Sensor support! He accessed an unpublished API, so this may have been the cause of the delay, such as the delay of the Google Mobile App update)

What’s special in 1.1? Well, ringtone support. Now you have all of the ringtones that your iPhone or iPod touch 2G has. Added set-off time, as in you can choose when it rings. It also has more languages, you also get a “missing calls” display, multiple calls after declining, and so much more. I give this application two thumbs up! 5 stars! This is so handy, and such a cool little app to have I just can’t stop recommending it.

The price? Well, it started out at an introductory $0, then it went on for sale to just $.99, and it continues to be just shy of a dollar. It is a worthy investment, and I guarantee you that you will love it as much as I do.

But there is just one more thing….. 10% of everything that he makes will be donated to charity. Mi Sangre will be the charity. You can get Fake Calls by clicking, or tapping, on the App Store graphic below!
