YouTube Fix For Firmware 1.0.2
When I bypassed activation using Dvd Jon’s method, I was left without Youtube like a lot of other people. I will be unlocking my iPhone as soon as the unlocking software is released and want to have everything working. I decided to find the answer to the problem. Below are the steps that I took to reactivate my iPhone with Youtube.
0) Start your Windows Machine (MAC People Scroll Down).1) Update to the latest firmware by restoring in itunes.2)Download and install ibrickr and restore the phone to an unactivated state.3) Kill iTunes related processes.4) Jailbreak your iPhone following ibrickr’s instructions.5) Download and unpack this file:http://rapidshare.com/files/55289251/PACAY__by_brasuco_.rar.html or http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O8W10E2C6) Extract the files to a folder and run “(CLICK HERE)activate.bat” and wait. You will have a fully activated iPhone with Youtube. Credit goes to brasuco, Darkmen, and Deleonju
OSX Intel USERS.
First:
Take your iPhone out of the box (or after doing a complete restore)Download this (from Rapidshare) http://rapidshare.com/files/54783302…cript.zip.html and decompress to your home directory.Download AppTap installer form nullriver (if you haven’t already)Step 1: Double click on the AppTapp Installer to install the Installer.appStep 2: open the folder ~/youtubescript and double click on Install youtube.termRestart your iphone. What it does:1) it puts a patched lockdownd file in the /usr/libexec folder of you iphone making it factory activated.2) puts the three files where they go. (/var/root/Library/Lockdown/)No need to use iasign or independence to activate your simcard. Just put any simcard from att/cingular and it will work.Update: If you have previously activated using iasign or iactivator or independence, then you need to delete all the files in the folder: /var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records before restarting the phone.Update2: If you already installed SSH then it’s easy to just scp the files over.scp the following files with the following commandsscp -rp data_ark.plist root@10.0.1.195:/var/root/Library/Lockdown/scp -rp device_private_key.pem root@10.0.1.195:/var/root/Library/Lockdown/scp -rp device_public_key.pem root@10.0.1.195:/var/root/Library/Lockdown/scp -rp lockdownd root@10.0.1.195:/usr/libexec/then restart your phoneremember to delete the files in the /var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records folder before restarting if you had previously activated with independence, iaasign, etc..UPDATEdownload these 3 files: http://rapidshare.com/files/55194961/youtube_fix.zip.html or http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QOK95RO2 and replace them in: /private/var/root/library/lockdown/*.*

To get youtube working on 1.1.1 you have to put these 3 files: (link below)data_ark.plistdevice_private_key.pemdevice_publ ic_key.pem
in /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
Next you need to copy the -DeviceCertificate key from the data_ark.plist provided in the zip file over to the plist /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_recordsfind below entry in the data_ark.plist<key>-DeviceCertificate</key>copy what is between<data></data>open .plist found in activation_records find <key>DeviceCertificate</key>paste between<data></data> If you do not have an activation_records folder:1). Create an empty activation_records folder2). copy the three files described3). remove all the files in the pair_records folder4). reboot Just a quick note you can use this method both in mac and windows.Use winscp in windows to transfer the files open .plist in notepad, make the changes and save with .plist extension.http://www.filefactory.com/file/9e0917 -Thanks Js29Easy Method:1. This worked for me for 1.1.1. I didn’t have the activation_records so I had to create one and delete the other files.
YouTube now works and so does Yahoo IMAP. Neither one was working before.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Limited Edition iPhone // Oct 23, 2007 at 6:49 AM
the fix has nothing to do with your iphone’s wireless signal. They just have a weak overall antenna
abhinav // Oct 23, 2007 at 7:58 AM
so I don’t think that I should worry
Deb // Oct 24, 2007 at 1:48 AM
Hi, I have a 1.1.1 phone downgraded to 1.0.2. Everything else is working except YouTube. I copied the 3 files successfully, but after restarting, the files are being restored to the original version automatically. Appreciate if anyone can help. My firmware is 04.01.13_G currently.

I am a novice at iphone. Just bought a unlocked iphone. It is Version 1.0.2(1C28).
I am not able to use YOUTUBE. It says : ‘Cannot Connect to outube’.
I also not able to connect to Yahoo Mail. It gives error …. Username / Password Incorrect (though I enter correct details).
I am a Windows XP / Vista User.
How do I get Youtube working??
Is there any easy step process, without risking locking of my phone?

Ajay all you need to do:
download these 3 files: http://rapidshare.com/files/55194961/youtube_fix.zip.html or http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QOK95RO2 and replace them in: /private/var/root/library/lockdown/*.*

6) Extract the files to a folder and run “(CLICK HERE)activate.bat†and wait. You will have a fully activated iPhone with Youtube. Credit goes to brasuco, Darkmen, and Deleonju

So I have an unlocked iphone running 1.0.2
It seems that fromyour comments that I can just run steps 5 and 6 WITHOUT un activating my iphone.
THat is, my iphone is already activated and I dont want to change that, and then if i just click the activate .bat that should fix youtube and not change my iphone’s activated state?
just hook up my iphone to the pc (do not run itunes, end all itunes process as well) click activate.bat let it do its thing, then youtube will work and my phone will stay activated even though i did not un activate it first?
Limited Edition iPhone // Oct 28, 2007 at 4:42 PM
that is correct!

Hi “Kevin Edwards” & “Limited Edition iPhone”,
I have iphone unlocked(T-Mobile) running 1.1.1 with iTunes 7.4.2.4 on PC and everything is working fine EXCEPT for Yahoo Email & YouTube. Would you please help guide me thru steps(easy and safe) to setup Yahoo Email & Youtube?
Thanks & Regards

have you read the guide for 1.1.1? Its easy and safe.
FireHorse // Oct 30, 2007 at 3:23 PM
Limited,
I read the “1.1.1” guide very carefully, but I also noticed there are comment on this page saying just steps 5 & 6 will work(not sure if they have 1.1.1)….just want to re-confirm.
Also, how do I setup(parameters for IMAP, etc) to get Yahoo mail.
Thanks & Regards,

Firehorse: If you do not have an activation_records folder( /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records):
1). Create an empty activation_records folder
2). copy the three files described
3). remove all the files in the pair_records folder
4). reboot
Lestat // Oct 30, 2007 at 6:40 PM
Copy the three files described where — into the pair_records folder or the Lockdown folder?
Limited Edition iPhone // Oct 30, 2007 at 6:44 PM
do you have an activation records folder?
FireHorse // Oct 30, 2007 at 6:52 PM
Thanks “Limited Edition iPhone,
I will tryout this evening and report back result.
I have another dumb question: what program to use(and how) to copy/delete files and folders between PC(Vista) and iphone?
Thanks & Regards,
Lestat // Oct 30, 2007 at 6:54 PM
No it wasnt there..I created an empty one, deleted the pair_records contents as instructed, rebooted.
It recreated new pair records — youtube launches, but all movies give an error they cannot be played
Limited Edition iPhone // Oct 30, 2007 at 6:55 PM
FireHorse you will need winscp. scroll down on this page till you see winscp. you will need to install open ssh, and bsd subsystem

Limited Edition iPhone // Oct 30, 2007 at 6:57 PM
lestat now follow the rest of the guide: To get youtube working on 1.1.1 you have to put these 3 files: (link below)
data_ark.plist
device_private_key.pem
device_publ ic_key.pem
in /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
Next you need to copy the -DeviceCertificate key from the data_ark.plist provided in the zip file over to the plist /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records
find below entry in the data_ark.plist
-DeviceCertificate
copy what is between
open .plist found in activation_records findDeviceCertificate
paste between
Lestat // Oct 30, 2007 at 7:00 PM
There is no .plist file found in the activation_records folder, it is empty after I created it.
Limited Edition iPhone // Oct 30, 2007 at 7:03 PM
you need to copy the 3 files there
Lestat // Oct 30, 2007 at 7:07 PM
I am just not following you…if I copy the 3 files from the zip into both the Lockdown and activation_records folder I created, what is the purpose of file editing the contents of the same file to copy from one copy to the other?
Limited Edition iPhone // Oct 30, 2007 at 7:19 PM
1. Connect to your iPhone via WinSCP.
2. By default, you’ll be in the /var/root folder. I think this is where the problem lies. There is a Library/Lockdown folder in here as well, but this is not the one you want to copy the three files into.
So do this: In WinSCP, go to the very root folder “/“. Then navigate to private/var/root/Library/Lockdown. Copy the three files in this folder and replace the existing ones.
Here you should have an activation_records folder, but it may be empty. If you don’t have an activations_records folder, create an empty “activations_records” folder.
Go into the “pair_records” folder and delete whatever files are in there.
Reboot the iPhone. YouTube should now work.

We are getting somewhere — yes I was in the other path..
Still no success..
I copied the .zip files to Lockdown, but there is a file in the activation_records folder for data_ark.plist with a different size and date (2.2 kb 13/08/07) from the file in Lockdown; should I delete what is in the activation_records folder, or edit the key to copy from Lockdown file into activation_record file?
Lestat // Oct 30, 2007 at 7:38 PM
re; your comment about Youtube changing formats; this could be my ‘problem’ a red herring! I can *launch* youtube without a messsage saying I have to connect itunes via internet first, I can even list all the videos — but when I click on one the message is ‘This movie could not be played’?

I did everything in the steps for my 1.1.1 yet all i get now is “Cannot connect to youtube”
Juggernaut // Nov 3, 2007 at 7:40 PM
Limited Edition iPhone,
Ive downloaded and replaced the 3 files in the correct folders.
Ive made a activation_records folder because I didnt have one.
I do a reboot, still not working.
I check the files in the folders and the ” originals are still there”. Something keeps resetting the files.
Something keeps overwriting my data_ark file after a reboot. The patched one is 2303 bytes, the one on my phone that keeps reappearing is 831 bytes eventhough I delete the old file and copy the new one to it using WinSCP.
malig // Nov 3, 2007 at 8:15 PM
Juggernaut same thing with me.. the key between or whatever stays the same though.. is it my wifi connection? all i can get is “unable to connect to youtube”. I’ve tried so many things.
malig // Nov 3, 2007 at 8:16 PM
the long KEY inside the file stays the same is what i was tryin to say
