5: restart iphone.
6: after restart, go to the activation_records folder copy everything in there to your computer. then delete everything in the folder from your phone.
7: restart the phone again
8: connect to itunes and your phone should be re-activated automatically with youtube working!

YouTube Fix For Firmware 1.0.2
When I bypassed activation using Dvd Jon’s method, I was left without Youtube like a lot of other people. I will be unlocking my iPhone as soon as the unlocking software is released and want to have everything working. I decided to find the answer to the problem. Below are the steps that I took to reactivate my iPhone with Youtube.
0) Start your Windows Machine (MAC People Scroll Down).1) Update to the latest firmware by restoring in itunes.2)Download and install ibrickr and restore the phone to an unactivated state.3) Kill iTunes related processes.4) Jailbreak your iPhone following ibrickr’s instructions.5) Download and unpack this file:http://rapidshare.com/files/55289251/PACAY__by_brasuco_.rar.html or http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O8W10E2C6) Extract the files to a folder and run “(CLICK HERE)activate.bat” and wait. You will have a fully activated iPhone with Youtube. Credit goes to brasuco, Darkmen, and Deleonju
OSX Intel USERS.
First:
Take your iPhone out of the box (or after doing a complete restore)Download this (from Rapidshare) http://rapidshare.com/files/54783302…cript.zip.html and decompress to your home directory.Download AppTap installer form nullriver (if you haven’t already)Step 1: Double click on the AppTapp Installer to install the Installer.appStep 2: open the folder ~/youtubescript and double click on Install youtube.termRestart your iphone. What it does:1) it puts a patched lockdownd file in the /usr/libexec folder of you iphone making it factory activated.2) puts the three files where they go. (/var/root/Library/Lockdown/)No need to use iasign or independence to activate your simcard. Just put any simcard from att/cingular and it will work.Update: If you have previously activated using iasign or iactivator or independence, then you need to delete all the files in the folder: /var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records before restarting the phone.Update2: If you already installed SSH then it’s easy to just scp the files over.scp the following files with the following commandsscp -rp data_ark.plist root@10.0.1.195:/var/root/Library/Lockdown/scp -rp device_private_key.pem root@10.0.1.195:/var/root/Library/Lockdown/scp -rp device_public_key.pem root@10.0.1.195:/var/root/Library/Lockdown/scp -rp lockdownd root@10.0.1.195:/usr/libexec/then restart your phoneremember to delete the files in the /var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records folder before restarting if you had previously activated with independence, iaasign, etc..UPDATEdownload these 3 files: http://rapidshare.com/files/55194961/youtube_fix.zip.html or http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QOK95RO2 and replace them in: /private/var/root/library/lockdown/*.*
=== YouTube Fix For Firmware 1.1.1 ===
Just make sure that you have “Community Sources” installed in installer.app.1. On the “sources” tab click “Edit” then “Add” https://limitededitioniphone.com/lei.xml click “Done” then “Refresh”2. On the “Install” tab find the YouTube category. Install the package.
3. Reboot! You should be all set
OR TRY THE MANUAL METHODS BELOW
To get youtube working on 1.1.1 you have to put these 3 files: (link below)data_ark.plistdevice_private_key.pemdevice_publ ic_key.pem
in /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
Next you need to copy the -DeviceCertificate key from the data_ark.plist provided in the zip file over to the plist /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_recordsfind below entry in the data_ark.plist<key>-DeviceCertificate</key>copy what is between<data></data>open .plist found in activation_records find <key>DeviceCertificate</key>paste between<data></data> If you do not have an activation_records folder:1). Create an empty activation_records folder2). copy the three files described3). remove all the files in the pair_records folder4). reboot Just a quick note you can use this method both in mac and windows.Use winscp in windows to transfer the files open .plist in notepad, make the changes and save with .plist extension.http://www.filefactory.com/file/9e0917 -Thanks Js29Easy Method:1. Download these 3 files2. Upload them to /private/var/root/Library/Lockdownd (overwrite the originals)If your carrier only provides GPRS connection, and you have updated to 1.1.2, I believe that you have seen that youtube.app works only with EDGE or WiFi. Today I copied the 1.1.1 youtube.app to my phone and guess what…It WORKS with GPRS! http://www.medi@fire.com/?dcjj1gipygj Copy to iPhone and set permissions to 0755..Replace @ with a. –Thanks Tonydeli7

I meant that the file, data_ark, keeps resetting itself to the original of 831 bytes.
Eventough I overwrite it with the patched one of 2303 bytes and set the file to read only.
So I copy and overwrite the 831 bytes one with 2303,
I reboot,
Filesize is 831 bytes,
Its the same file ive just overwrited
Something keeps resetting the data_ark file.
Please help.

It’s very strange, I’ve unlocked a bunch of phones using the exact same method and I’ve got one that I just cannot figure out whats wrong with youtube/itunes. Even resetting to 1.1.1 firmware then starting the whole process over, this one phone can’t do youtube…
JAZZ // Nov 4, 2007 at 1:04 PM
Hey
I bought an unlocked phone like most of you. I tried running PACAY, and it did not work! I was then told by Limited Edition Iphone to try SSH, although cause i had bought this phone unlocked I had nothing of this sort on my computer, and no iBrickr and APP TAP came installed on the unit. Regardless, I figured out a quick way to view videos on the phone.
I went to the google tab that opens up in safari, there you may type up whichever video you would like to view. This brings you to google, then you should select the video tab which appears on the top portion of the browser. From there this essentially brings you into the youtube video page where you can view a whole bunch of videos!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8W9A9mbzLJo
Try it out! Hopefully it helps you guys!
Enjoy the vids!

If you have 1.1.1:
1. go to: /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown/
2. delete everything in there
3. copy the three files from: http://www.filefactory.com/file/9e0917
4. create 2 empty folders:
4a. Create an empty activation_records folder
4b. Create an empty pair_records folder
5). reboot (hold top and home button until the phone restarts)

Please help
FireHorse // Nov 5, 2007 at 3:07 AM
The msg was “You must first connect to iTunes with an Internet connection to enable YouTube.”
1) I do have internet connection.
2) I have iTume 7.4.2.24 and there is not option to activate YouTube.
Limited Edition iPhone // Nov 5, 2007 at 10:58 AM
Firehorse try doing a restore and then jailbreak and activate with jailbreakme.com and then do steps from 204
FireHorse // Nov 5, 2007 at 12:36 PM
Hi Limited Edition iPhone:
The iPhone I bought was ready unlocked with firmware 1.1.1(all I had to do was put in Tmobile SIM and use it). All features worked(except for YouTube and Yahoo Email). I used iTunes 7.4.2.24 to sync musics files.
So, would you be kind and give details and simple ways to “restore”, “jailbreak” and “activate”. I am a little bit nervous about the procedures because FIRST, I haven’t done it. SECOND, I read there are people still having problem with unlock after restore.
Thanks & Regards,
Limited Edition iPhone // Nov 5, 2007 at 2:21 PM
just restore in itunes and then follow this guide to jailbreak: https://limitededitioniphone.com/guide-jailbreakactivateunlock-virgin-iphones-v111-windows/
Limited Edition iPhone // Nov 5, 2007 at 2:21 PM
you could also ask who you bought it from to help you

I asked the guy I bought the phone from and he said he doesn’t know anything else. Just like he told me before “it’s unlocked and can be use with t-mobile…nothing else will be guarantee”…:-(

Just tried #221 on a 1.1.2 unlocked iphone and it did NOT work. Is there an update planed for 1.1.2 anytime soon?
pixeltracer // Nov 14, 2007 at 9:15 AM
Hi Limited Edition iPhone,
I tried what you suggested, and it works but the thing is it cant play the videos, it says Error Playing movie. whats wrong with it? is it a serverside problem or a slow connection or blocked?
pixeltracer // Nov 14, 2007 at 9:17 AM
Sid,
I thing its not worth upgrading to 1.1.2 as for the moment, its just a language support. i suggest going back to 1.1.1
Limited Edition iPhone // Nov 14, 2007 at 9:35 AM
Sid did you make sure you rebooted your phone?
Iphonefromhell // Nov 15, 2007 at 9:40 AM
#221 have done this and still get cannot connect to youtube I am unlocked on 1.1.1 using installer any ideas? Ive actually tried both fixes from sources for utube and nothing works.
YouTube dead // Nov 15, 2007 at 10:16 AM
#221 didn’t work for me either. Running 1.1.2 jailbroken phone. If you have an update for us, we’d appreciate it. Thanks!
Limited Edition iPhone // Nov 15, 2007 at 10:33 AM
for most people youtube is fixed automatically after 1.1.2 jailbreak. Did you restart your phone after you did everything?
Iphonefromhell // Nov 15, 2007 at 10:35 AM
I dont find myself savvy enough to try and jail break my phone. I was under the impression the #221 above would avoid doing that.
YouTube dead // Nov 15, 2007 at 11:43 AM
Yes, I used Jailbreakme.com when I was running 1.1.1 Then I ran oktoprep, upgraded to 1.1.2 and ran the window.bat file in the 1.1.2 jailbreak zip file.
(I did a restart of the phone after every step.)
Everything else but You-Tube seems to be fine. When I run the YouTube fix, it says that it’s installed (then I restart), but it’s still in the list under installer (as opposed to the uninstall list). Is that normal or is it not installing properly?
Thanks again.
Limited Edition iPhone // Nov 15, 2007 at 12:35 PM
iphonefrom hell you have to jailbreak your phone to preform 221, unlock it, install apps, and activate it if you are not an actual customer with a contract. If you do have a contract then your youtube would already be working.
Youtube dead, it must not of installed. keep trying
Iphonefromhell // Nov 15, 2007 at 12:37 PM
My phone is unlocked and modded i have installer on it.

I would do a shift restore in itunes to select 1.1.1 then jailbreakme.com then install youtube fix from installer. Thats how I do all of my phones.

I got through all the steps…. went on ibricker…it said to boost my iphone and there was a red screen which all of a sudden went black and all sorts of computer language started scrolling through. My phone did this about a 100 times….restart…computer language..shut…restart..computer language, shut, restart and so on at least 100 times before i finally figured how to shut it…
my iphone is shut now, however if i turn it on it does the same thing..any ideas?? im desperate for help!!!!! thxxx

I have an unlocked 1.1.1. iphone. Youtube seems to work but everytime i try to play a video it keeps saying “error playing file”.
What should I do? I dun want to relock it.
I’d appreciate any help. Thanks a lot.
truehybridx // Nov 19, 2007 at 11:07 PM
To saira: sounds like when you used ibrickr failed at installing something on your phone….
try ibrickr again and see wht it does, if not you have to restore and jailbreak your iphone again.
sryies
To Jessica: you may want to reinstall the files for youtube….
if you use Installer.app, add i.unlock.no as a source… then goto unlocking tools and install the youtube fix
using any of these methods, youtube is a lil quirky so itll try to fuss with you, wht i do is keep trying until the video plays, or you may have to look up another one

Ive just Purchased an Unlocked iPhone from the US, All the features are working however when i click on the Youtube icon it connects, and everything works apart from when i press play, it displays ‘error playing movie’ what do i do ?
Please help …. I am really frustrated at spending x ammount of money and it feel like sending it back if its not going to work
Im not tecchy minded and all i know is its running on 1.1.1 and im running on Windows XP or Vista depending which computer i have. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO STEP BY STEP AS I DONT WANT TO MESS UP THE PHONE
Mohammed // Nov 23, 2007 at 4:35 PM
P.S – How do you activate the UK Dialling and edit the detais such as the diretory enquiries as it is set to 411 at the moment and need to change it to 118 118 etc
This is so goddamn annying, kinda wish i hadnt purchased now, very disheartening when its not fully functioning 🙁
truehybridx // Nov 23, 2007 at 7:01 PM
hmm im not really specialized in knowledge on how to fix your UK dialling problem but as for youtube…. ive gotten a few of those errors and its not the phone thats giving you the problem most of the time its the server..
you could try using a different youtube fix tho, that might help
Mohammed // Nov 23, 2007 at 7:16 PM
Well when i purchased the phone, the guy in the US told me all features would work except the visual voice mail.
Im currently using the handset on Orange on a contract and have the web bundle on top of the price plan.
Everything on the phone seems to work fine when its working off my Broadband Router, its just when its on theEDGE that i cant play the clips on Youtube as it displays the error message. Ive not tried any of the above fixes as i dont know exactly what you do and dont want to mess up the phone, could some1 give me step by step instructions or something as im a bit of a novice in this field !
Also any suggestions on how to sort out UK Dialling and If possible swith the ITunes store to the Uk one instead of the US Store.
Thanks !!!
Mohammed // Nov 23, 2007 at 7:21 PM
Regarding the Youtube it wont have anything to do with it being the .com and not the co.uk site will it ? just a though or is it just a setting that needs adjusting etc
ANY HELP WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED !!!
