Customize 1.18 no longer lets you choose how many icons you want in the dock. I personally like having the SMS.app in You will need to edit the file M68AP.plist. SSH to:
System/Library/Coreservices/Springboard.app and download M68AP.plist
Open M68AP.plist with a text editor and copy one or more of the items from the icon list section (3rd main section) to the BottomBar section (2nd section, should now have 5 or more items there). Then transfer the plist back over & reboot. I would not recommend anything over 5 icons but I have seen people do more.
Very good mod… have been wanting to get 5 icons on bottombar. great job thanks
I’ve been trying to get this same thing to work on my 1.1.3 iPod Touch, is there any method you know of that will work?
The problem I keep getting is I cant edit the plist file, because it appears as jumbled text….
it looks like this:
bplist00ÓWbundles\capabilitiesYiconState Ù
]ringer-switch_editableUserDataYtelephonyYbluetoothZdeviceNameVcamera^volume-buttons[unifiedIPod]international ViPhone Ã’(YbuttonBarYiconListsÑZiconMatrix¡¤”$&Ñ !_displayIdentifier_com.apple.mobilephoneÑ #_com.apple.mobilemailÑ %_com.apple.mobilesafariÑ ‘_ com.apple.mobileipod-MediaPlayer¡)Ñ*¤+4=F¤,.02Ñ -_com.apple.MobileSMSÑ /_com.apple.mobilecalÑ 1_ com.apple.mobileslideshow-PhotosÑ 3_ com.apple.mobileslideshow-Camera¤579;Ñ 6_com.apple.youtubeÑ 8_com.apple.stocksÑ :^com.apple.MapsÑ @BDÑ ?_com.apple.mobiletimerÑ A_com.apple.calculatorÑ C_com.apple.mobilenotesÑ E_com.apple.Preferences¡GÑ H_com.apple.MobileStore
any ideas?
You need to convert the binary plist to XML. On Mac, use the built-in plutil command line utility (from a Terminal session).
On Windows, use the web service (see Google) or use my plutil.pl Perl program.
BTW, you can’t edit the file to create a 5-icon dock on 1.1.3 or above.
This didn’t work for me. I am using Pwnage 1.1.4. What am I missing? Here’s the .plist file:

oops that file didn’t work sorry, but still, I think I have it set up correctly. What am I missing?
Another thought, does Customize override this SMB file? Is there away to turn it off if it is?
only way I know to get a 5 icon dock on 1.1.4 is with kate.app
Yea the Kate.app screws up your phone. I used it and my touch screen didnt’ work past the home screen. Scared the piss outta me. So I am staying away from that from now one. I have the 1.1.4 phone. Pwnaged
Any other ideas, why this method above doesn’t work? I really want 5 icons in my dock
The best way to go is to use Kate/Caterpillar by RiPDev, this hack does not work on anything above 1.1.2
the same tuto here, great to have 5 favorites !
You need to dl windows plist editor google search it, notepad doesnt work with plist files!
